2023 Fall Color Trends

Posted Sep 21st 2023

When we think of fall, we think of autumnal hues like burnt red, sunset orange, military green and majestic yellow.

Well in 2023, we're adding a few new and brighter colors to the mix ... well we personally aren't, the trends are. But we're quite excited about these new additions.

In the last couple of years, you may have been noticing a deeper purple popping up in fall decor and fashion. Well now it's here in a lighter shade. Not only is it WGSN's color of the year, but this season it gets special attention too, and is lovingly referred to as Digital Lavender. This softer hue plays well with the typical fall jewel tones. It's complementary and does a playful job at balancing out the depth of beloved autumn colors. It's predicted to show up more in fall fashion, like knits and loungewear.

Predicted to become WGSN's color for 2024, Apricot Crush is a lighter shade of orange than normal (like the leaves on a tree or the mums we love so dearly). This orange is lighthearted and bright, inviting in a lively scene to again balance out the earthy-ness of typical autumnal tones. Being a versatile color, it's forecasted to show up across fashion, specifically seasonal prints, such as plaids and florals.

Astro Dust is up next. This color at first glance is not so different from the dark red we again associate with fall. But it is a little lighter and really personifies its name 'dust'. It's been said it 'feels intriguing and forward-looking'. We're planning on seeing this color in a lot of fashion as well.

Now a color that's been a crowd pleaser for a few years: blue ... or more specifically - Galactic Cobalt. This shade was inspired by the digital, tech age we're living in. It keeps in line with rich jewel tones, so it pairs perfectly with regular fall color schemes. These accessories and fashion pieces will be easy for them to bring into the winter season as well!

Last but certainly not least, another hue that's been gracing us with its existence: Sage Leaf. It's hard to imagine green not going well with something. It's just such a natural part of every color scheme ... even Mother Nature's! This is a smart shade that also helps ease anxiety ... so it's a win-win: fashionable and friendly!

We know trends can be difficult to keep up with. These colors are pretty classic though; so whether you decide to buy them for fall or just because they fit with what you're looking for, we think you can't go wrong, and they'll make your customers really happy. Because at the end of the day, these formats themselves are winning!
